net or gaff?
I've seen some decent kings lifted up to the pier in nets, but at what point is it easier to gaff the fish to lift it?

That could depend on the gap of your gaff. I'd say, generally, a king should be around 10#, or eight inched in diameter to make sure your gaff gets a good bite. One of the main reasons for not netting kings is that they will cut up your net with those razor chompers of theirs.

I brought a couple kings up last year with my net thst were in the 15-20# range, chewdown was happening and this one kid caught 6 back to back, managed to net his 4 extra and lower them back down to swim away, but i will say it is easier to gaff a big king than net, trying to manuever a king thats still got energy into a net takes some skill
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
