need help with second trip to pier
I'm taking my 80 year old uncle to the pier next Saturday. We would like to fish for flounder. What would be my best options as far as rigging, etc. . . What areas on the pier would be best to fish for flounder? What other fish are biting at this time of year? Thanks for any help and advise.

As far as flounder I use a #10 treble with a 15-20lb fluorocarbon leader about 18" long and a 3/4oz lead above the swivel Carolina rig style and bull minnows or live finger mullet for bait. Pompanos and Spanish with the occasional king can be caught right now.

Alternatively, if you are an artificial bait guy - Gulp Alive 3" shrimp in New Penny or Natural on a red 1/8 or 1/4 jig head on same type leader jbearden described. I personally don't like much over 20 lb as it gets difficult to tie a small knot and the larger lines have a tendency to get a little kinky when you pull the knot tight. Flounder are caught literally from one end of the pier to the other and back again. Ease along bumping your bait off the bottom looking for them. Sometimes they slam it and other times it's like a white perch - don't know he's there until you tighten your line. With live bait, be prepared to lose LOTS of bait to pinfish.
Screw it. Let's ride.

Re: need help with second trip to pier
thanks for the help. I'll give it a try Saturday. If you see me on the pier please say hello.
I'll have a homemade pier cart that is green with 7 or 8 rod holders on it.
