Thread: Nearshore Trolling

Went out yesterday morning (7-11-17) geared up to troll for kings and spanish. All I could keep thinking was how "fishy" the ocean looked.. Random logs floating with a smooth but wavy surface had me sure I would spot a couple curious Cobia or maybe even some Mahi..to my disappointment, no action until about 10 am, when we put a few spanish in the boat while trying to dodge the parasail and charter boats zooming out of the pass. I did manage to snap cool shot of the rainbow..

We always did good for Spanish trolling to the west of Perdido Pass.
There is a huge ebb tidal shoal around the pass, the Spanish tend to school around the edges of it.
We'd criss-cross the area from the outer edge towards shore until we found them.
Make sure troll well past before turning back around, you will see the drop on the FF when you pass it, keep going until your lures are well past too.
