Mono Fishing Line Question
Been using Pro Spec, Big Game, and Sufix Siege for kings. Anything better out there??
For braid I usually use Sufix 832 or Power Pro. Tried some Kastking braid last trip and was surprised how it held up and on small king and a Cow Ray. I only use braid because I like it when the fish gets near the pier pilings and I can pull him where I need.
In the boat I always use mono.

I like Momoi Hi-catch. It's limp and casts well, although not as abrasion resistant. Everything has trade-offs.
People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.
If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

Momoi, Ande's, and old fashioned blue Stren have always been my go to's.

All-time favorite is Momoi, but I really like Bass Pro Excel mono from the pier also. It is a strong line that casts well and has decent abrasion resistance. Another plus is the cost; Excel is fairly cheap line and I like to change mono frequently.

I use 17lb berkley big game on my bigger reels and 12lb on my medium reels. I really like the big game mono, it's never failed me as long as my drag was set right.

I bought MoiMoi Hi-Test at J&M in 15# and that stuff is really nice, although I did notice some abrasion issues after about an hour or so of casting. No worries...should be checking for that anyway. My friend is a salmon charter on Lake Michigan and he uses the 25# for his downrigger reels and for leadcore leaders.
For braid, there is no better braid I have found for strength and castability than Sufix Performance Braid. Not 832..that stuff is too stiff for my liking, but the original Performance Braid cannot be beaten.

For my king reel, I like the Momoi Diamond Illusion 16lbs.

Grew up using Stren, still use it. I should mention, Stren was what was there when we bought line back in the day.

Berkley big game green
15lb 12lb and 10lb.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
