Mono Color?
When using fishing with mono, does color matter? If yes, what colors are preferable for surf fishing?
Thanks

I can only speak for lake water , but color really matters. Especially if the water is clear. I use a lot of braided line. I even paint my line black sometimes. The pros say it helps it become less visible. But I do have an instance in saltwater too. I was fishing on the four seasons pier in orange beach and the only way I could catch the specks was on fluorocarbon line and a hook. That's it. I freelined some small pinfish and bull minnows and flat wore them out. My brother in law was fishing with me and he wasn't catching any!! I caught my limit and he had only caught one. He was using mono and only caught one to my limit. I have him my rod and he proceeded to catch fish. So IMHO it does matter. At least some of the time.

I've seen a lot of people using highvis for their main line and clear mono for the leader of course. It would make it easier to know where you line is at all times, which might mean less tangles with other people.

I agree. That would work. Clear on the business end.

A couple of black stripes across the spool face in permanent marker break up the visibility of line and may help, but I have no scientific evidence. Superstition is also a form of proof to some, I guess..

A black sharpie will definitely make braid less visible to the naked eye. I use a marker to cover my braid about 2 or 3 foot up from the lure/bait.

I use hi-vis mainline on my king rods so I can see where my bait is going and who its tangling up.
Clear for all other rods.
For some fish and certain conditions I don't think it matters.
In really clear water and spooky fish, it does.Carl

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
