Mono with braid backing?
I was wondering if i should put some mono over top of braid on my king reel, any suggestions? Right now I have a penn 700 but am going to get a 706.

when u get that 706 u can put about 20 yards of 20# momo then put 300 yards of 20# or 30# braid. then top it off with as much 20# mono on top. If u take it to j and m they can really do it good for ya

Just a few wraps of electrical tape at the base of the spool will work as well as mono. All of my reels are done this way. Most of your new reels on the market that are built braid specific have a rubber grommet in the middle of the spool for this same purpose. It gives the braid something to bite into.
