Mobile Bay ?????
Hi Guys
I am new here, I plan on coming down for the last week of March, to visit my in-laws in Foley. I plan on bringing my Boat down and want to do some fishing with my Father in law.
For the most part I plan on fishing in Mobile Bay or Perdido Bay, At that time of year what can I expect to catch in Mobile Bay ?, I don't see many reports on the Bay ?.
I have the rods to fish almost any style of fishing.
If the weather allowed I would be OK with going out into the Gulf too.
I have maps of both Bays.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks
Kevin

You'll get close to the same responses here as you did on PFF. The bay is pretty stirred up right now from all the rain we've got.

Re: Mobile Bay ?????
if it doesn't rain any more, by then the flounder might be back, thats about all i can think of that bites that time of year from the fairhope pier, spanish and some kings will probably be biting in the gulf

Re: Mobile Bay ?????
Put in at the Fort Morgan Barge Launch and fish the rigs and stand pipes a mile or so north(not the close ones) for some world class sheepshead fishing.Don't waste too much time in one spot, you may have to fish a couple places before you get them located.Bring a flat shovel to scrape barnacles creating a chum line and piece of rope in order to tie off to the rig or pipe.Fishing should be good in a month because with all the fresh and muddy water that has set in there will be little fishing pressure the next couple weeks.

Re: Mobile Bay ?????
In a month specks should be easy to catch in the bay consistently

Re: Mobile Bay ?????
Last couple of years, we did good on specs and slot reds in Pinto Pass in late March.
But it all depends on rainfall, if we dont get much more rain and the rivers drop, things should be good. If we keep getting rain like the last two weeks, it may be April before they turn on.
Keep an eye on the reports as things get closer and that will tell you where to go.

Re: Mobile Bay ?????
+ spanish mackerel should be showing up in growing numbers along the gulf beaches by the end of March.
Might I suggest Little Lagoon as an alternative to fishing Mobile Bay (which I believe will be muddy for another month or two).
GREAT topwater action there on early season speckled trout! :headbang:

Thank you, for all the replies.
How is the fishing behind Dauphin Island and what looks to be a flats area just to the West of it ?
