Re: Mexican Commercial Fishermen Catch 20ft Great White
Back in '95, my wife was out on a boat with some "local scientists," shark tagging near the coast of Fort Morgan. They were dropping bouys out with 1000lb steel test using live jack crevs.
Shortly after, one was pulled up with a 300lb+ shark bitten in half. Another bouy went down completely and popped back up later with the steel bitten in half.
The crew quickly packed up and called it a day and not much mention was made thereafter.
Anything is possible in open waters.
Makes you wonder.

Always have a knife at arms distance and always be aware of your surroundings. I keep a knife on me just in case I end up in the water with one. One strike in the face with a knife and they should leave you alone. If not, I am going down swinging.

Dang it, I was going to say that and Duck beat me to it...
Heard a diver got killed a couple of weeks ago in austraila...just swimming along minding his own business. I'd like to go down swinging but man, they are so fast...not sure if I could even get a punch in.

Sadly enough, unless you hit it right in the eye, your knife wont get enough underwater velocity to penetrate the sharks skin. :boohoo:

If the shark is comin at me, that is velocity. Add to that the adrenaline rush and you have penetration.
