J&M should have some 'no frills' 8' to 9' pier rods for the budget minded.
For the 4000 you might be better off just getting a 7 foot rod.
keep in mind most will be 1-piece rods.
if'n you want 2-piece, your options are much more limited...

To start, the guys who live close and fish often know way more than me. I have a 1 piece Profile rod from J&M that I bought with a Battle 5000 and its a good set up. If you want a rod to throw light baits I wouldn't say that is it's strong point. I use it with larger live baits and lures and I feel it's a great rod at a fair price. Some will not agree but I feel like the Ugly Sticks are a decent rod. I have a few and while they may not be as sensitive they are tough. I have two Ugly Stick 2-piece 7 footers that I used in Canada 20 years ago and they are still very fishable. I have 3000 Penns on them and use them often. I have a couple of the newer models intended for saltwater use that have a little more backbone. I probably have more rods than a tourist needs but as I've read on the forum many times; the correct number of rods to have is (x) +1 with x being the number you currently own. Maybe custom rod for the next one!

I was going to suggest Ugly Stiks as well. They offer a bunch of options for length and power that also come in 2-pieces....which is great for those of us who travel!

Not sure if J&M has any of the big box store rod lot left.....but that might be a good choice too.....don't over think it, I fished with my regular equipment for years, doing well......I have upgraded recently, and really can't say I am doing any better catching......suttle things help, but it's still just fishing.....bring what you have already for rods......at least your reels will do the job.
And visit J&M for upgrades if needed
