Re: Looking for a Penn 706
706 and 706 Z are out of production, so you you are looking for ads here and online auctions. Expect to pay a healthy price for one in good condition. If you like a bailed reel a 704 is almost as large and runs cheaper.
A very serviceable surrogate is the the Mitchell 302 with the bonus of being cheaper, but an upgrade of a 302 to bail-less status and better line lay will add another $40 to the price.
Of course, contemporary reels also catch fish.

Re: Looking for a Penn 706
Don't know if you are wanting a new one or not but I have a 706z that's in good shape. Has a few nicks and scratches. Has the pancake handle and gold spool. I will sell for a decent price. I have not gone through it yet but it seems all is fine. Only down is it has a plastic sideplate. Emblem is on there.
