Looking for Advice
I am a michigan resident and avid fisherman. I will be visiting gulf shores for a week during my spring break this year (april 17th-24th). I would really like to do some fishing will im down there. With no prior salt-water/ocean fishing experience I am pretty much clueless as to what kind of gear to bring along or what techniques to use. I will not have a boat, Im just looking to do some pier fishing or off the beach. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just about everything you need to know you can research on this forum. Everyone is more than willing to help. But your best money spent would be to hire pier#r. I was new to the pier and salt water last year, I wished I had known of him last year. We are coming back down in June and I am very excited to have the opportunity to meet and learn from one of the best. Good luck and good fishing. You can pm him on this site.

This forum is your friend, We leave on Thursday, this will be our 3rd time. We are from WI. And it was easy to figure out the beach fishing. Between this website and YouTube I picked up enough info to catch fish every day. We will be meeting pier# on Sunday, for a lesson on the finer points of beach fishing. The pier is a huge ? For me. I have fished it one time and was very intimidated and lost. Ask questions this place is great!

+1 on hiring Pier#r. I have heard he is one of the best guides around. The pier is probably one of the best fishing spots around without a boat, though the surf still is good. If you want to you can bring a freshwater reel for smaller things. Small spanish mackerel and whiting are fun to catch on light tackle. mid-late April is a really nice time to fish
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
