Lionfish
I was wondering if anyone has caught a lionfish off the pier? Do they get in shallow water?

I have no idea how shallow of water they will venture into but I do know how many have been caught by hook and line on a single reef that has several hundred of them on it,not a one.

We just spear them when we see them its much easier than trying to catch the with hook and line

They're fun to pick off with a Hawaiian sling. It would be a rare catch on a rod and reel. Tasty lil guys that I've seen on structure within 5 miles of the beach.

I agree with Dutch, getting beyond their appearance and the toxicity, I hear they are good tasting. Might be the only way to keep them in check is to promote them as a fish for consumption.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
