Line to Line Knot, on reel
I just purchased a new spinning reel, I was loading it with 12# mono and ran out of line before the reel was full. I have some 15# mono to use for finishing the job. I need expert advice on which knot to use for joining the two lines.
I am no knot expert, from the old school of if you can't tie a knot, tie a lot.
Thanks in advance for input.

Double Uni knot.
Make sure the knot is not in the section of "casting distance" line, the knot going through the guides will catch on the guides and reduce casting distance.Carl

There are some great apps, both pay and free, for iphones and droids with animated knot tying instructions. Look to be very handy to have.

The FG Knot
For my braid-mono and mono-mono connections that had to go through the guides or I knew would be in the fight, I used to use an Improved Albright but now use the FG Knot.
The FG Knot is incredibly slim and strong, and it is easily castable with almost no resistance going through the guides.
For a knot deep in the spool of lighter line that isn't going to see major pressure I'll use a Double Uni.
E.g. when I respooled my Spanish rig after losing 2/3 of my 12# mono to a Tarpon, I used a Double Uni, its easy/quick and holds.Ragnar Benson:

That ^^^ video is a good one for easily and quickly tying the FG Knot.

I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
