Launching a Kayak in OB
So I've recently been following a couple of guys on YouTube who kayak fish out of Pensacola Beach (YakMotley, Greg Ammons, & AnglerUp). One of the things that I've noticed is that they seem to have plenty of days where they launch from Casino Beach and the surf is almost nil. Is that something that can ever be expected in OB as well? I'm considering bringing my OK T13 down in September to try my hand at BTB, as well as some inshore on Ole River and Little Lagoon. What are my chances of having decent surf to launch through?

Historically, a little better than average in your favor.
Just check the forecast a few days prior to your arrival and check back each day,
National Weather Service
Also tune into the buoy report (42012) and watch weather radar.
And keep in mind September is a transition month, and the peak of hurricane season.
You might want to keep those Plan B and Plan C in mind ;-)

Well, Plan A is to teach myself to launch (assuming favorable conditions) the first day, and maybe taking some gear later on. Plan B and C are to simply fish the surf and Ole River, and hopefully to finally make it over to the pier to meet some of you fine folks!

I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
