It isnt the size but the make. 12ft is fine as long as it holds you and is built for open water. The rest is skill. You have to get past the surf and you have to land in the surf. The rest is easy.

what is the brand and style? That may get more answers than just length.

    Re: kyak question

I have an OK Scrambler and a WS Tarpon. Both are 12 ft and I've had plenty of king scales on both of them. I prefer the Ocean Kayak for rougher seas. However, the Wilderness System is more fishable and more comfortable in my opinion. Would recommend either one though. Especially for someone just starting out. Hope this helps.

Just save a little more and wait on a used hobie deal.. It's well worth it.. Ask Ty J
Give a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years
