Knot Help
Can somebody start from the beginning and tell me how to set my rod and reel up for Spanish/kings using the bubble rigs? I understand how to use and fish with them , however , I always tend to break off at my liter. Even a freshly tied one. What kind of line , and knots should I be using? I understand that you have to check your line occasionally for frays and wat not. But I seem to weaken the integrity of my mono leader with my knot. So what knot is best?

Not exactly sure I follow where the line is failing??
For my bubble rigs, I use 50# mono. I tie a long loop on the "bubble end", thread on a bead, then the bubble.
Then I tie my main line directly to the top of the 50# loop. I use a uni-knot for this.

That really helps out a lot. The place where my line was failing was at the barrel swivel. That's how I connected my leader. Also used a bead , but the line would weaken there. Not sure of what a uni knot is..... but I will google it. The way you do it takes away the barrel swivel , thus eleviating my problem. So the hoop goes through the bubble and then it never has to go through it again , correct?

I may be confusing you , sorry. What I meant was , can the bubble slide up and down on the main line side?

Thank you. All I use in ky is the polimar knot. I just wanna know before I get down there. Hey Carl , have you heard of that pier at four seasons condo is still shallow? Or have the recent weather conditions pulled some of the sand out?

Sometimes the bubble slides up while casting but then goes back down on the start of the retrieve.
Swivels are just one more piece of metal for a Spanish mac to swipe at, so I don't use them on bubble rigs.
No idea about 4 Seasons, I've never fished it, haven't been on that part of the beach since the active part of the oil spill.Carl

You guys have made it simple! Thanks for the advice. Detailed advice. If anyone knows the four season pier situation , I'd love to know if it's still shallowed up.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
