    July Surf Fishing

We will be down in July 16-23, renting a place on the Gulf just east of LL Pass. Plan on just surf fishing, wondering will fishing at that time in that area be productive enough to justify bringing a lot of gear or just the minimum? Meaning should I pack for fishing near shore 7 ft. setup AND 12 ft. setup for further out. Or just pack either 7 or 12 ft. set up.
Will be fishing for whatever may be biting, and grand-kids will be fishing with their micro-setups as long as patience holds out.

    7 footer fer sure.
12 foot if you want to tussle with sharks and such.

Ladyfish, bluefish and even specks & redfish are distinct targets in that area.

I always go overkill for July vacation. When you only get to surf fish once or twice a year, bring the whole arsenal. It's worth it to have multiple options depending on the conditions and what's biting.

I bring every rod I own. I only get to surf fish for 10 days. I will have 6 ocean rods just in case.

+ 1 On what pier# said. If its a calm day bring bring the 7' out then bring the 12 footer out towards evening. If there is some chop bring both out during the day if the is water isnt too dingy. It you are catching nothing but catfish quit, unless u like catching them.
