Thread: jig head colors???

what color jig heads are the best for the shallow water, or even mid way....and not for the ling....making some and painting.... just curious on color...white,pink??thanks in advance

I like red and white for spanish and reds,Drum, For pompano a color like a sandflea shell with pink skirt cut close to the back of the hook

White, yellow, chartuese, pink and maybe silver and gold.

I've only seen one color jig on HR's rod,white.

White head is all I use.

making these for the grand son and his friend, really don't want to turn them loose with gotcha's...... figure the jigs would be the safest for all around....and these are a banana jig head,.... I hope they work....and white and pink have been painted...with the most white so far....will change up some colors with the skirts tied

Oddly as bad a rap as Gotchas get, THE worst exibition of accidental hookings I've ever witnessed was at the old GSPPier on 'Bloody' Palm Sunday 1981.
That was part of the legendary "thousand jig weekend" when the pierhouse sold 1000 spanish jigs. ???
EVERYBODY who could cast halfway straight and more than 10 yards caught spanish all weekend.
But no fewer than 5 people were hooked using white jigs that day.
It was CARAZY out there. I even had my hat snatched off by an errant jig.
Most were hooks in the hand, but one was an old guy who had a jig dangling from the loose skin under his chin. (I still cringe thinking of it)

Moral of the story: those single hooks are SHARP too!

Back on topic: what kind of action do those banana jigs have compared to the bullet head?

I always thought there was something different about your hat.

Seriously though, it is great reading stories like this. You should write a book.
