I use to fish a Penn international 80 for sharks. I fished off the beach and those reels are not meant for the sand. They were hard tomaintain and clean. I soon switched to Penn senators with urpgraded drags. For the sand they hold up much better. But as far as performance the internationals are the Cadillac of reels.

Being that I'm a Texas sharker that just moved to mobile, I can give ya my two cents but in the end it's gonna come down to how something feels in your hands. I love my old school senators but being that we are rough on our gear graphite tends to have a serious downside. If your gonna spend the cash save a bit and invest in an avet product. You can beat them up and down rocks and still wench in a 20lb ray with 2lb weight or fight a solid fish when you hook up. Shimano tiagras and the Okuma mikira are also quality so go with what suits you best, just my two cents.
