I'm Coming Back !!!
Well as some of you know I moved back to Biloxi several years ago as I got tired of fighting the sharks plus wanted to pursue my favorite pastime Poker Well this virus thing has pretty well taken away poker in casino poker rooms I do not know if they will ever have that again without a vaccine Well the wife and I were sitting around during our 60-70 days staying in the house looking at four walls trying to figure out what we could do as the casino was a very big part of our life that had been taken away from us since we are in a high risk group due to our age and the fact that she had chemo and radiation years ago in beating cancer and we don't want to risk going back into that environment any time soon Since we lived in Gulf Shores for several years and loved it she came up with the idea of why don't we just buy an RV and put it there as a second home with the possibility of becoming permanent and that's just what we did We bought a new 38 ft travel trailer from White Sands RV in Gulf Shores last week Let me tell you this RVs and travel trailers have come a long way We owned a Class A Holiday Rambler years ago and have owned condos in Gulf Shores at the Beach Club Surf & Racquet Club and several others and this thing puts them to shame at less than 15-20% of the cost of those plus no electric bill No water bill and no cable or internet bills when you park it at a nice RV park for $300-$400 for a summer week or $600-$700 per month in the Spring and Fall plus you have no virus threat from someone being there before you in a rental unit or hotel room Something to think about if you are planning to move to Gulf Shores Visit there often etc It sure works for us We are coming down Monday for a couple of weeks Then hopefully in July for a couple of weeks and then have reservations in our RV park from August through December as the Fall has always been my favorite fishing time Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones as well as helping anyone I can enjoy the fishing in Gulf Shores and the Gulf State Pier

Welcome back Dan, and congratulations. Hope to see you out there in October. For that matter, I hope there is an "out there" in October.

Have you decided on a full time park yet? We just purchased our new "Portable Fishing Condominium" so we always have a place close to the pier. Oh yeah, a beach for the wife since it was her idea!

Doc's RV Park on Fort Morgan Rd has a good monthly rate of $600/m August -Apr which includes everything Cable Elec Water Probably 10-15 minutes from the Pier plus you can store your RV there when not in use for $50/m if you don't want to go monthly and they will pull it out of their storage and put it on a site for you if you're coming down for $20 There's also Island Retreat on Fort Morgan Rd with storage if you can get in Lots of good surf fishing down Fort Morgan Rd Less congestion too If your want a space plus an investment I'll tell you about a hidden gem if you don't mind being a little further away from the beach Creekside RV Park in Foley just off the Beach Express down from the OWA amusement/water park You can buy an lot in there with a nice concrete pad power water etc already there for $70-$80,000 Pool Clubhouse etc Very nice new well kept park Only has 61 sites Those lots can only go up in value and if the indians that own OWA put a casino in there as I suspect was there plan all along they will explode in value

Think about it We have owned the Phoenix , the BEACH CLUB. Surf and Racguet Club and a new house in Foley over the last 7 years They were nice and we enjoyed it but decided to move back to Biloxi since we enjoyed the casinos very much and I loved poker and was very successful at it We still have our house in Biloxi and will keep that for now in case poker and other casino activities make a come back but since the wife an I are in a high risk category for this virus due to our age and her cancer treatments we stayed quarantined for over 60 days and don't plan on going back into the casino environment for some time if ever She can up with the idea of going back to Gulf Shores or at least trying to get a vacation home there Didn't want to get something we had to rent out etc for safety concerns and really didn't want to pay several hundred thousand for a condo so in came the RV idea I'm telling you These things have come a long ways over the years They are beautiful and highly functional We decided to go with a 38 ft travel trailer since we don't plan on traveling around the country that you want believe We have recliners entertainment center a 50" TV fireplace king size bed Big closet etc As good if not better than any of the condos we owned All for less than $40,000 $312/m Was a no brainer for us Sorry to be so lengthy but I think this info may be important for anyone who visits the area often, travels as a snowbird here, or hopes to move here in several years This RV thing may be an option worth looking into and you may be saving your life by doing so
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
