Re: I want to catch fish!!
I'd fish off the beach with fresh dead shrimp on a rig like this
look for a wash out in the surf you can catch whiting, red fish, pompano, ground mullet, i fish there a lot and do good off the surf...Good luck :fishing:
Re: I want to catch fish!!
Another place to try out there is fort morgan point, where the gulf meets the bay, you can tell by the extra wave action in the water which can go out to the lighthouse, it a bit of a walk, and you might have to pay a 5$ fee, but if the fish is biting it is well worth it. You can catch bullreds, jacks and spanish, and everything in between. For the reds and jacks live bait or fresh mullet, work best. I like to use a 80# leader, might overkill, but w/ the surf and if a jack hits it you'll be glad you have it. Lures, live shrimp and squid can also work. Also try behind tacky jacks, you can't fish inside the but you can go to the last dock and fish out into the bay as well as the boat channel. The fish might not be as big but there is a lot of variety. Good luck
Re: I want to catch fish!!
Spanish are thickk in the lower bay and around Fort Morgan Point. Get some jigs, Gotchas, bubble/straw rigs and some 50# mono leader and go at it.
Re: I want to catch fish!!
50# mono for a leader works good for Spanish, but be aware that every time you get a hit or catch a Spanish, check for frays from their teeth. Leader is good for 3 or four fish before it needs to be changed. At least that is my experience.

What do you consider "Lower Mobile Bay" for spanish?
Out past the site where the water flows in and out or near the pier and ferry?
I stay down that way (GS Plantation) and when I don't want to do a day at the pier it would be nice to have a place close to fish.
In the past I walked all the way out to the point and got reds there.
I may even try right on the beach where I am staying.
Any suggestions?
