    I need a new rig

    Hello all,
I have been hanging around here for a few months now. You guys know your stuff so I figured I would jump in and learn a little.
I am new to salt water fishing and have just moved to the gulf Shores area. I have been hooked on Bass fishing all my life and have quite a collection of Bass rigs. I am finding that these rigs work OK in some situations and not so well in others. With that said here is what I need advice on.
I purchased a new Penn 7000 Conquer, spooled with 20 LB mono and a St Croix Mojoe Inshore 7’6” medium heavy rod with a fast tip. Landed a Red just shy of 10 lbs. This rig handled it with ease. Great rig for bottom fishing but a bit heavy to do a lot of casting with. Now my question, what would be a good rig (spinning) that would be suitable for doing a lot of casting, pier and surf? Money is not a factor. I don’t have any but I want the highest quality I can get my hands on and I do not mind paying for it. I have been the inexpensive combo route and found that they just do not last regardless of how well you take care of them. (Could be just my luck) If you need more info let me know. Like I said, I am new to this salt water thing.
    I welcome all suggestions.
    Many Thanks,

Welcome aboard Arowsmith, thanks for signing up!
The best thing you can do is go to J & M Tackle on Canal Rd in OB and tell them what kind of fishing you want to do and let them show you what you need to accomplish your mission. You can choose from numerous combos or go custom, your choice.

I bought a pier cart and a few other items from J&M. Good folks over there. I hope I can get rigged up with the salt water gear soon so I can get to the pier and learn a few things.
