The pass should almost always be deep enough for small boats no matter the tide. The lagoon itself can be very shallow out of mos landing. I work for the department of the city that takes a small skiff threw the pass several times a month taking depth measurements to determine when they should dredge. Shortly after the construction is done im assuming they will dredge it better. I can't wait for it to be done and everything thing settle should make a great fishing spot even better. Im very low on the totum pole at the city sorry i dont have more info.
That's a lot wider than it used to be. I won't be able to jump across it now like I did before.

I really wish that they would extend the walls back out into the surf like they were in the 80's. That was a great place to fish then especially when you were on the guy on the very end!
I have heard they are not going to put jetties in now. Also I have talked to ADOT and the City of Gulf Shores to see if they were going to maintain a depth, and all they will say is it is water flow they are after and not concerned about depth.Quote:

Glad to see this project coming to a close. I'm staying across the bridge later this year and don't want to be stuck in traffic on the other side.
I wonder what effect, if any, the increased inflow to the lagoon will have on the weir at 135 when there is a tropical event is in the Gulf.

Thanks for the update.
It is a shame this money was spent and the project could have benefited the fishing public, but as usual when government is involved things don't go well.
