If you're using 7 strand wire, just tie a swivel to one end of you're wire and a single treble hook to the other end using a figure 8 knot. If its single strand wire, you do the same but use a haywire twist to connect the hook and swivel. For the cigs, you can hook them through the nose or eyes or through the top and bottom jaw.

Tie your main line to one end of the swivel and the wire to the other side of the swivel.

Daniboy, there's no standard for all three. I use a large circle hook for redfish with a 30#+ mono leader to a heavier swivel, to your mainline. Normally I use a depth finder slide on the mainline with a piracies weight sized for the current/wind conditions. You can use your favorite type of hook here.

For Spanish, tie your mainline directly to a 40-50# mono leader, then the leader to your lure. Spanish will hit the swivel if you use one and cut your mainline quickly. I tie the lines together using a blood knot.

Sheephead, I use an egg weight then bead on the mainline tied to the swivel. Size of weight depends on amount of current and wind. Usually a 2oz will work and adjust from there. The bead is to protect your knot at the swivel so the weight doesn't keep slamming down the line into the swivel. Then from the swivel, 15# leader to a 4x #8 or #10 treble hook.

I wish I could post diagrams like Fin does but I'm not that good, so I hope you get the idea from my description. All the above items can be purchased right at J&M tackle in Orange Beach and the staff will help you without selling you something you don't need.

    good fishing...

use the smallest you can get that you can get your line through, dani. Like fshntime said, they will hit the swivel if it's big enough to see it. Also, make sure it's not shiny at all. matte black/gunmetal black, no shine at all.

As a separate question for the regulars...What do you store leaders in? Is there an easy way to store them, or just use a plastic sleeve or something just to keep them away from other stuff?
