Hi All,

Great site here, thanks for any help you can give me.

I'm going to try surf fishing for the first time this beach visit outside our rental condo. I need help with a few questions. First some information:

- DATE - May 27th-31st

- LOCATION - Orange Beach, between Perdido Pass and Florabama

- TACKLE - I just bought two 11' Diawa MH Surf Rods and two Cabelas Salt Striker spinning reels (size 80)

- TIDES - high tide around 8:00AM or so those days

QUESTIONS:

1) what edible species can I reasonably expect to catch that time of year in those tides?

2) how would you rig the tackle I described to be as versatile as possible? (maybe one rod rigged heavier one lighter?)

3) what live or fresh bait should I concentrate on buying?

4) besides finding rip currents on the beach, what technique advice do you have for edible target species?

5). With the tackle I described, would you recommend going to the beach under the bridge to throw into the pass, or are my rods too long and cumbersome to fool with?

6). Any other random advice?

Thanks very much! Looking forward to it.

David
