Gulf Shores Trip from Atlanta

Just wanted to thank everyone for the great info! I've been reading through the forums over the past few days and feel like I have already gathered a wealth of information. My family and I will be staying down in Gulf Shores December 29 - January 2nd and I'm hoping to make it out to the pier for a day or two. Anyone plan to be on the pier during that time frame? I would love to chat with some of the local experts to increase my chances of success.

- Mark

I'm not a local but will be down from the 26 until early the 2nd. Usually alternate from pier to beach depending on the bite.

Lots of folks will help you out, but don't ask anybody with his spinning reel on top of his rod and reeling backward. These people tend to have a limited amount of experience. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Have I been doing it wrong all these years?

People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.

If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.
