Give 'em credit
Next time you go to the pier stick your head in the office window and thank the staff for keeping up the cleaning stations. They are a heck of a lot better this year than last year, especially through two days of redfish blitz. They're doing good, and it isn't a job I'd want.
Last year, those tables would stagger you when you walked by and the smell was attracting buzzards which may have bred with the pelicans to produce the current crop of scavengers that are hanging around this year. Just saying---
There's less trash on the pier itself, too, which makes for a more pleasant fishing experience.

That is a really great post Haywire! Not just for the Pier, but for a lot of stuff we wouldn't want to do...but others do, maybe with no recognition.

Greetings,
I just wanted to take the time to say "Thank you!" to the pier's staff.
Particularly those who keep it clean.
There is a noticeable difference between this year and last year in the cleanliness of the cleaning stations, and hence a major difference in odor... Last year the smell could gag a maggot.
Again, a word of thanks to those who maintain the cleaning stations, wash bait cutting tables, keep the trash cans from over flowing and hose down the bathrooms... Good job!
Sincerely,
John Cox

Die if you must, but die on your home turf with your face to the wind, not in some stinking hellhole 2,000 kilometers away, among people you neither know nor care about.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
