Frigate Reels
Are Frigate Spinning Reels from Basspro any good? Have a chance to obtain a 8000 at a reasonable price. It is paired with a 10' Frigate rod.

Do not know about Frigate model. I have tried two different Basspro models and both were crap. I returned both and Basspro refused to accept one return. I very rarely buy anything from them.

Yes. (IMHO ;-)
I own a 3000 combo.
The 8000 is a 'beast' @ 25 ounces,
They are made in the same factory (in China) as the Penn Battle which they compare well to.
A little less line capacity than the Battle 8000, but it weighs less.
Double shielded stainless bearings, aluminum rotor, double anodized spool, 30# max drag etc.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
