Freezer space
Hey guys just looking for a little info. We come down a couple times a year to fish and generally bring my own freezer that I plug into the truck. I was just curious if any of the local bait shops or seafood markets might rent out some freezer space by the day or week.If there isn't take this as a business opportunity for someone. Thanks for any information that might be provided.

I brought my own small upright last fall, just in case....never used it...the good catching never started till the last 2 weeks and the condo freezer was enough (barely)

I'd also be interested to know if there was someone who did that and got the temps down to the -21 or so to kill parasites for sashimi.
People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.
If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

I remember meat locker businesses as a child. It was very much like going to the bank lock-box room, but larger. Home freezers were the downfall of the business, but then again I haven't looked.
My corollary questions are about dry ice sources and block ice sources. I seem to recall both being hard to locate largely because I did not want to skip any fishing time to search for it. A condo might have an adequate freezer, but a motel mini-fridge is only sufficient for bait and beverages.

Publix at 161 & 182(Perdido beach blvd) had dry ice and really a lot of other places, but that was close for me and where I got it before our return home....a full cooler with solid frozen fish and no space last us our 14-1/2 hr trip in the past, but when the cooler isn't quite full dry ice insures the fish stays frozen ....I have up graded to a larger cooler, but not a high end yeti, no real need for that up here
and while there, I rotate frozen gallon water jugs for the cooler on the pier....cheap I guess I hate buying ice and it keeps the water contained...filet the fish as I go and put into a gallon zip lock bag, keeps the cooler cleanBill..............

Thanks for info. guys. Looks like I will have to continue to bring my own freezer and use dry ice. I was just hoping for a place I could leave the fish I filet and package until the end of the week. I may try to set up with the hotel for a fee to plug in my freezer. Again thanks guys.

my freezer goes in the condo and when I stayed in a efficiency room at a motel I took it in but didn't use it....mine is small and I can't see a problem using one in the room...might have to sneak it in though ....mine is a 5.1 cubic ft upright Kenmore and holds as much as the big cooler ....so it could double as a cooler on the way home too....just have to restock it once in the van

I have a dorm size fridge/freezer. It can be either one. Never had a problem getting one in a hotel, but the desk clerk at the microtel almost called the police when they saw me carrying it out. Had to check with maintenance to confirm my room didn't have one. Ever since I make sure they see me take it in.....wherever I stay. Never microtel again.

I have found that if I bring along huge amounts of fish storage area, IE ice chests, etc, or depend on eating fish for supper by bring my own fixins from home, the fishing Gods laughingly don't allow that to happen. I've had better luck buying what I need to cook them and store them once I get there. If I was to bring a freezer with me, I'm positive I would never have to plug it in and I would be eating What-a-Burgers every night. I hope it works different for you!

better to have and not need..... then to need and not have....kind of like carrying a gun..... as long as there is room .....why not??....there has been springs that I returned with a cooler full and some a baggy full....the freezer was for my retirement times and month long stays....it was used for storage of my wading items anyway..... so not wasted room, and fit nicely in the condo's washer and dryer room with the bonus closet with the hot water tank.....will rent that one again in the future....with the pass just 5 or 6 condo's away

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
