    Free Fishing Day

Ok, yep another darn newb...Hello folks! We are from Meridian, MS. I have fished fresh water all my life, know next to nothing about salt water, but learning as I go. Been coming to the pier for the past couple of years, not catching much (mostly blues etc.) but having a lot of fun.

I understand this Saturday is free fishing day, and we are heading down for the day. I have my pier license, but thought about maybe wandering off for part of the day at least and try my hand at wading or fishing from the beach. Just looking for any tips of a nearby spot to try. Only catch, it must have a beach for the wife to get her sun. Happy wife, happy Bassist!

Don't want to get too far from the pier, I still want time to hit J&M since it is the first trip of the year. I have some tackle, but I after browsing around here for awhile I think I need a consult with those guys for sure.

By the way, the handle has double meaning not that anyone would ask...ha... I love bass fishing, and also am a musician. Great forum here, looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Try the beach east of Perdido Pass. There are some cuts in the bar along there. Check out surf fishing on the search feature.
    Good luck.

Take her to dinner at Cobalt on the other side of the road from Haywire's spot. Really good food and a "to-go" pastry counter that is just dang evil. Pecan praline cheesecake, whoopee pie cookie sandwich, cupcakes, toffee bar cookies, marbled fudge and a lot of other fat-sugar coma desserts.

Thanks! Down by the bridge? I scoped that out last year. We were walking the beach and some guys were fishing there. Might check it out or just hit the pier, going to head out early in the morning and play by ear.
