Snag hooks will fly up out of the water and behind the person attempting to snag. That may explain their looking around. Unlike the group just past the tee who sling sabikis and never look behind them.

FYI---It probably was Harley and Roy, and they are old-time, well-respected fishermen on the pier and have likely forgotten more than I'll know about fishing. Be nice to them, feed them donuts, and watch them catch fish in the shallows. If they were snagging, you can bet your whiskers there wasn't anything at all biting.

G4G, if this was in fact Harley and Roy that you saw, I take offense to your comments about them. They are 2 of the nicest gentlemen you will meet on the pier. Paying close attention to them has really helped me learn to catch fish in the shallows. Get to know them and I'm sure your opinion will change.

Add Mr Robie and Otis and you have a wealth of information and some wonderful fellowship. I had the chance to fish with these gentlemen this April for a week I hope I never forget the stories and a couple of knots Harley showed me.

Hootie, I know this is a fishing forum, but trolling is best saved for homeowner associations and football message boards.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
