Fort Myers, Florida fishing
I’m gonna be in Ft Myers this March and want to do some fishing. Anybody familiar with fishing down there? Is there a good pier for fishing? Any certain rigs that are different or will my set-ups for gulf shores work? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Frank

Lynn Hall Park has a short public pier.
Not sure of the staus or catch report.

Naples has a longer pier, never fished it though. Try the passes or the bridges, that’s most where I fish when I’m down there.

Spanish macs are already biting in the south end of Tampa Bay, I bet they are in Ft Meyers as well.

The only pier I have been on in that area is at FM Beach. Rarely see anything caught there. The fishing pier at the Lighthouse Beach on Sanibel can be productive.
I have had more luck just surf fishing the various beaches on Sanibel and Lovers Key (south of FMB)
Good luck!

Just got back from Ft Myers. Maaan, do we have it good on this pier! I definitely won’t be going down there for the fishing. I did manage my first sheepshead, though. Tons of tiny ones and one decent sized one. Nothing else edible graced me with an appearance! I even chartered a boat for a day with a very competent captain and didn’t manage anything but blue fish and lady fish!

That area was hit hard by red tide last year.

I spent a week down there two years ago. I won’t go back.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
