For bull redfish, try chunks of cut mullet, fished on bottom, no need for wire, just 20# mono leader and a stout sharp hook.

We need to spread rumors of soldier-ghosts at fort Morgan to keep people away. I've posted this a while back I copied and pasted;
My least favorite thing about surf fishing are the walkers and the swimmers. ugghhh That can get on my nerves! Especially the combo ones when they walk right into your line and then swim right underneath it! I just holler "Hooook!!" And it point at the line and it does the trick."A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work."

'Veteran' whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'USA' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'

I mainly stick with the usual 7/8' rods, carolina rigged. Have been known to throw a bubble rig, a fish finder, or even a dbl drop if I bring the big rod and feel like chunking it way out there (not usually though). Still using an old 7' catfish rod that my kids used the first time they caught anything of note down there.
What have you been using for bait? I do very well with live shrimp for just about everything. It's my go-to and everything from reds to bigger whiting to specks, pomp, and flounder eat it and sometimes just pound it. Sometimes get live minnows too. I also try using sand fleas and ghost shrimp if they are nearby. And of course fresh dead shrimp and orange Fishbites. I keep it simple with lures: spoons and gulp shrimp (2" hollow whites, pretty much any color in the std but usually have new penny). Sometimes I'll use a topwater early if it's flat. If I start filling the cooler early (or run out of shrimp) I'll switch to the gulp skrimps.
Ft morgan marina usually has plenty of live shrimp (call first). If they don't I stop and get a few dozen on my way in. Well worth it...except for bad weather I've never gotten skunked on live shrimp and have almost always gotten plenty of decent sized whiting and an assortment of the other usual suspects for a fish fry.
I'll be down the 10th and while I've mainly given up on night fishing most nights (cause I'm getting old, and tired) we're going to try gigging in the surf if the conditions are decent one night/early morn.

You'll be disappointed with Trying to fish Fort Morgan Marina The docks were torn up by a storm they said and all are roped off except the one going straight out You said something about trying a light at night there which I had planned on trying too but will not be able to now due to the condition of the Marina Still plenty more places to fish

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
