Fly Fishing At Gulf Shores
Where is a good place to go (wading) fly fishing around Gulf state park.
I will be camping at the park in September.
We will also do some pear fishing.

Any where along the beach, just be careful when casting to the walkers on the beach, unless you waded far enough out, plus swimmers around.....maybe fort morgan way (west) would beless crowded.....I have tought of bringing the fly rod for some bull reds or jacks close to shore (that might be more suited for boat fishing) where one could follow the fish if needed.....got that 12 weight for tarpon in the keys, but that access has gone away
I have even thought about using it to float a bait out under a float/ballon to hook something up from the pier.....just have thought, wouldn't want to piss off anyone on the pier because never seen it done beforeBill..............

Little Lagoon is shallow enough to wade and you may catch a speckled trout or redfish. Shelby Lakes at the State park can be waded as well if you want but you need a freshwater license and a permit. You might catch bass, bluegill, redfish or speckled trout there if you aren't afraid of alligators-which I am.

I've on fly fished in front of the condo, early before walkers. Some of the mature walkers may recognize what you're doing and give you space, 99% won't. Some of the guys at J&M fly fish. I think one will take you out on a boat for a decent price. Can't remember his name.
Search for my thread "fishing perdido grand" there was some fly fishing advice shared to me.

Yeah, check with Blake" @ J&M
Other spots I'd recommend are the beaches either side of the boardwalk where "campground road 2" intersects Hiway 182.
You've got almost a half mile in either direction to walk the beach casting.
Also, at Alabama Point Park East (from the state park eastward to the next parking lot) and maybe even around the east jetty.

They are not close to the Park, but St. Andrews Bay/Navy Cove has some good shallow wading access near mile marker 4. Also at the bird sanctuary boat ramp out near mile marker 8 (but not as shallow), both on Fort Morgan Road.
If you look at a map these spots are either side of Little Point Clear. Keep an eye out for gators there, especially near any small ponds.People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.
If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
