You would probable be better off leaving you fly rod at home. Just my thoughts!

Most any body of water out of the wind will be good for fly fishing, but I don't know of anywhere that you'll have a prayer of catching anything. In better weather you can find a guide who'll take you fly fishing, but right now, I'd suggest lake Okeechobee, FL.

I'll bet a sheepshead would put a bend in a flyrod in later February if there's a week or two of warmer weather! Fiddler crabs! It would be fun if you could get into stacked-up, staging sheepsheads!

Watched an elderly gentleman fly fishing on the east point of Perdido Pass in '95, while on vacation. He was casting a sinking fly that resembled a silver spoon; he called a digger? Landed a few undersized pomps on the bay side, but nothing in the beach surf. I don't think he really cared, he was just fishing and enjoying himself.

If I HAD TO FISH with a fly rod it would be with shrimp imitations wading the sunny shallows at Shelby Lakes and hope for a redfish, small speckled trout or largemouth bass. Personally if I got the opportunity to come down then I would hammer the seawall or jetty at Perdido pass with live shrimp, ghost shrimp and fiddler crabs for sheepshead and pompano.

That's right. There will be NO SHEEPSHEAD at the State Pier. (Dang it, I can't find the key for the sarcasm font.)
