Flounder Bite?
Good morning, everyone. Coming back next weekend to fish with the friendliest locals on the Gulf Coast. I see flounder being reported here and there, but is there a consistent bite at the pier or Perdido Pass? Thanks!

By nature flounder fishing at any location seems 'hit-or-miss'.
This year has been about 'typical', but the size has been good.
Certainly better than the last few years.
Jig & strip has produced the most flounder I have seen and heard about.
Maybe because it allows the angler to work more water...

What is this jig and strip you are talking about? And is it worth using in the bay or little lagoon? Thanks !

Even before there were Looney jigs, there was jig & strip ;-)
Simply tie on a 1/2 to 3/4 ounce white or chartreuse jig and pin on a 3" to 4" strip of fresh cut LY, fish belly or stingray underside (white side).
Drop it to the bottom and drag or bounce it along the bottom.
Flounder LUV it!
You will also hook redfish & bluefish, pinfish, etc.

There was a half wit googan from North Alabama at the pier over the last couple of weeks who caught a few on a Carolina rigged live shrimp left stationary under the pier and a few more on a 3/8oz red jig head with a 3" gulp "molting" shrimp. He would have caught a few more if he had given the flounder a few seconds to get the gulp in its mouth before setting the hook.

We caught a few down at the Pass last weekend. Not "on-fire" but they are there.

I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
