Fishing Perdido Pass from shore, tips and tricks?

Hey Guys, Looks like we have our second trip booked down to your all's neck of the woods. We fished the pier and perdido pass the middle of August last year and didn't do to well. On the pier we caught a few spanish, blues, croakers, and sand trout. Over at Perdido, we fished the inside part of the bridge and hooked into some monster reds but got snapped off on the bridge piling everytime. We caught these on live blue crab, 6-8" croakers, and similar sized pinfish on fish finder rigs with 4oz pyramid sinkers. I beefed up my tackle a little this go around.

We are gonna be in the area April 22-27. Would you guys care to share any tips on tackle, bait, and presentation for fishing these waters during April? I'm kinda limited to these spots because I use a powerchair to get around, or I would gladly hit the surf around perdido or fort morgan. Thanks guys

That time of year you can add MORE spanish, pompano, sheepshead and king mackerel into the mix you previously experienced. :headbang:
    Especially at the pier ;-)

Can you describe your "beefed up" tackle?
    (RETIRED) mostly.

I have a trip planned for the same time. Last year I caught 4 large speckled trout and a ton of blue fish. I will be there Friday thru Sunday that same weekend. Good luck hope to see some good ones caught.

Should be a good time to target Redfish and pompano from the surf or pier. Specks are a blast too if you get there early and really fish for them. Rigging sounds fine for the most part. It should be a good time to get out there and drift a live LY for kings too if the weather holds like it has. Hope to see you out there.

If you see a guy in a beefed up powerchair with big knobby tires, come say hi.
