Fishing around the pilings for Mangrove

I started out with a pretty large list of species to catch 10 years or so ago.. i still need a few species to mark off my pier bucket
    list...
Kings(I've hooked up but never landed)
    Ling(same situation)
Lizard Fish and stargazer(just wanna catch one)
    Sheepshead
And... Mangrove snapper... i really want this one off my list... i hooked a few but got broken off..

What are some sure fire ways to target this species...?

I have caught some Mangrove off the Russell pier in pc with bull minnows around the pilings. The water was clear and I could see them come up and hit.

go to perdido pass, right by bridge pilings (if its packed just shimmy around), throw bull minnows or live shrimp on a carolina rig and im almost positive you will catch one (this time of the year). Me and a buddy last year wore them out doing that.

I've only passed by the pass, never fished it.. how safe is it for 4-8 kids in a group?
