Re: fish cleaning
The whole fish cleaning situation seems to be in flux. I would ask the peir staff what they official rule is.

Re: fish cleaning
They have trash cans next to the cleaning stations that say to put the remains in there.

Re: fish cleaning
I'd take them away with you. If you're checked by the Marine Police or Fsh and Wildlife they may write ya something you don't want. I'd suggest cleaning them then carrying off the remains and dumping them in the dumpster in the NW corner of the pier parking lot.

Re: fish cleaning
I hope for a positive out come to this..... before the season starts good.....This is one reason I have always liked this pier, even when it was shorter....now with it's length....one of the best on the Gulf coast....get rid of the netters and that would make it the best....they deplete so many fish from there netting.

Re: fish cleaning
then it best not be the first one everyone comes to as the fish cleaning fiasco the state has started is assinine. instead of coming up with a suitable solution they just change thier minds like the wind.
i hate my fishing season is probably cut short from the git-e-up this year cause i would like to see how this one plays out first hand.

Re: fish cleaning
Received this email from Mike Guinn today, about the one that was forwarded to him from the Orange Beach mayor..... that I had sent.
Dear Mr Simon
The cleaning of fish is still permitted on the Gulf State Park Fishing Pier.
The only change is that you can no longer throw the fish carcass into the Gulf, It has to be put in the receptacles near the cleaning tables.
I'm sorry that you were misinformed.
If you have any further concerns or questions please feel free to contact me.
Thank you,
Michael J Guinn
Now if this is the way someone does it, and they get checked in the parking lot, with no other fish parts but fillets, I would assume a ticket could still be given??and how does that work with length limits??Bill..............
