Re: Fin-Nor Offshore Spinner?
I have on of those Daiwas. Not a bad real, but definitely not a great reel. And can see the drag going out after a couple if big sharks. It's not really a drag system as far as I'm concerned. It consist of the knob, a heavy spring, pressure plat washer(that's what I call it), and a plastic drag washer. That's it. But it does hold a bunch of line. I got 450 yd of 20# mono on it I believe. Would hate to see how much braid it would hold.

I find the notion of putting $60 worth of line on a $30 reel a bit disturbing.

Re: Fin-Nor Offshore Spinner?
I meant to type in braid on that comment not mono....Yes that is kinda pricey for line.
Yeah, just saw & replied to your PM a bit ago.
Re: Fin-Nor Offshore Spinner?
Saltfisher1,
sorry I didn't get back to you on those rods.
"Negative, Ghostrider, the pattern is full"
Stopped by Bass Pro tonight, had a $50. BP gift card that needed spending.
I picked up a discontinued 2011 Ocean Master Spinning (OM12SS, 2pc -12', 20#-50# line, 6-12oz lure).
Putting my, new to me, Penn 8500SS reel on it.
Looking forward to getting it bent :fishing:
Still need a Medium/Heavy or Heavy, 9'or 10' spinning rod to put that 704Z on.
Something that might double for Surf and Cobes?
Re: Fin-Nor Offshore Spinner?
Atleast your set...When we going sharkin...Got my rigs ready?
Hmmmm... Need to renew my license, buy some rigging fixings, coordinate calendars with the wife and pick a day.
But yeah, always up for some sharking.
I spooled the 8500SS with 20# and a long 50# shock leader.
So it is ready to go.
I really need an inexpensive secondhand yak, my 6/0 on its 6' just doesn't cast.
