Fairhope pier Tues. night-shift:
10:30pm, 2 Reds decked ~18#. Cut mullet and Filet O'shad. One respectable Sheepie caught in a cast net. Shockingly, I didn't catch any of these fish but I can verify the results.
Dirty water, very little bait, few mullet here and there. Signs of life and stuff.

Alex, my favorite time is 2am. No crowd, no circus. I usually fish Fairhope just to go fishing (and always at night) but I have caught several big Reds from there. I don't care much for them, personally, but they are a lot of fun to catch.
I'll target Specks and White Trout near and around the lights with Crappie jigs (1/8th) since I rarely use live bait. (unless I catch it myself). A slow drag across the lights or a deliberate up-and-down jigging works best for me, especially under the pier.
If I were you I'd take a shot this weekend, even if it's just to get used to the location. The water is still dirty from the rain, but the temps are coming up. The clarity won't matter if you're looking for Reds.
Also, if you don't have this link, check out the fairhope pier cam:

Thanks for the info and link. I will try to get out there saturday night, I see the tide is going to be favorable.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
