Fairhope pier recently:
Last night, lost an upper-slot Red when the 8# line snapped, once the fish cleared the water. Doubt the fish was 8 pounds, had 100ft of scraped line so I'm sure that didn't help. There were three Reds visible, all around 23-25in on a shallow sandbar. Hit a white Speck jig.
One 12" Speck and hoards of juvi Gafftops. Damn things were chasing down small Rat'l-traps. The lil 'cats have been around about 10-12 days now. Seeing no White Trout, some bigger Hardheads, but not a lot of talk about Bull Reds. (Weeks/Big Mouth may be different)
Water salinity has been high for a while now, and the Ladyfish have moved in. Smaller of course, but smell just as bad. I caught a small Crazy fish (dual belly prongs) on a Crappie jig and a cast-netter had 2 juvi Jack Crevalle. At least 1 person netted 3-4 dozen decent brown Shrimp.
Managed 4 keeper Specks a few days back, when the water temp dipped ~3 degrees and the barometer dropped a bit. Had six Specks, all on Rat'l-Traps. (first time I've ever really used them there) Water is stained and temps are high 80's.
The pier becomes a circus Fr/Sa/Su nights thanks to Pokemon Go.
