    Dauphin Island Pier

From the looks of how it's sanded in, it appears it will never be open for fishing again. Sure miss those days.

Estimates I have heard is that is will take 10-15 years for the slug of sand coming down the Pelican/Sand Island complex to move all the way to the northwest and onto DI. When that happens, the pier should be back in the water. But no one is sure.
Maybe our grand kids will fish the DI Pier someday.

    ^^^ Same thing I heard.

Me too. Seems I read that somewhere on the internet, so it MUST be true ;-) lol

Proudreb, I was out there last week and it is just such a sad sight, seeing that pier marooned like that.
But there is hope on the horizon (or at least two miles out) because that's how far out to the SE the east end of the spit is now.
At a NW progression of erosion averaging 1/4 per year it could be back in 8-10 years.

I sure would love to see a huge Cat4 leave it with 15-20' of water under it again, without destroying it.

    Can I get an "AMEN!"

A storm that size causes way too much damage to much more important things, to hope that one comes along to MAYBE rearranging the shoreline to your liking.

    Not a chance.

Geewiz DRH, did you really think I was serious, or do you just like busting my balls?
Having replaced my roof after Ivan & some siding after Katrina, last thing I want or wish on anyone is a major hurricane.
