Dauphin island Golf Course help!!
Alright so I fished the golf course today and only had one either a bull red or a Jack hit a gold spoon and broke off after about 10 minutes of fighting but nothing on live shrimp or cut bait. My question was is this a good time to fish there? I fish here spot in the fall but never this time of year. and also wandering if I was in a bad spot? I look on Google and I fish right by where the ramp meets the beach. should I walk more left to where it bends or to the right where it seems the sandbar meets the beach? the wife wants to go fishing but doesn't want to drive to gulf shores as it is almost a 2 hour home one way for me and the golf course is like 20 minutes. Any info would be appreciated and thanks!

Yes, Pelican Bay (that is the name of the body of water) has a long shelf (sandbar) off the beach out from the golf course except over on the east end and the 'spit' (sandbar) that wraps halfway across.
You have to wade out 50 yards or more in front of the golf course to reach the drop off, and the drop off is where you want to fish most of the time.
On calm days you will see minnows at the surface and that is where you want to fish.
Most anglers walk around the east side and out on the spit to the south and fish back north facing the golf course where the drop off is closer and steeper.

Great Photo!
Another year to two and Pelican Bay is going to be Pelican Lagoon. Amazing how much that area has changed since I moved here in 1997.
DaniBoy, remember to be mobile, if you aren't catching fish after 15-20 minutes, move on down the beach.
If I didn't have a boat and was fishing that area, I would be fishing the outside of the spit or the "mouth" between the two spits, more current & better chance at whiting, reds, specs and Spanish macs, IMO. Did you try a bubble with a spec rig, spoon or straw behind it?Carl
