Work gets under way on East End groins | RESTORE Dauphin Island
Crews have been hard at work off the East End beach of Dauphin Island, where they’re utilizing barges, cranes and other heavy equipment to take apart and re-orient the rock groins. This photo was taken earlier this month (October). In early November, a deep-water dredge will begin pumping sand to elevate and widen the beach, using about 300,000 cubic yards of sand. Weeks Marine Inc. won the $6.7 million contract for the work, which officials said will take up to four months.

Finished product is supposed to look like this...

Don't give up on the area around the entrance to little billy goat hole, the pier and eastern jetties. All the construction will be west of the end of the road.
