Dacron to Fluorocarbon
I just rebuilt an old Penn 114 full frame reel I'm going to use for sharking. It had a 1,000 yards of pristine dacron on it, and I've scavenged about 200 yards for my very small Penn Senator I'm going to use for bottom bouncing.
Here's my challenge: what knot is going to best join a smaller diameter floro leader to the dacron?
I've tried an albright and that failed miserably. I've tied on about 20 yards of floro using a nail knot, and that seems to be ok; but I'm just not sure given the horrible slip with the albright.
I don't want to go from dacron to barrel swivel because I want to wind on a lot of floro and the senator doesn't have a lot of capacity with the big diameter dacron.
Not many people seem to be using dacron now with the much smaller braids . . . thoughts?
Why so much leader? I may use it to troll for dolphin too. I can tie bimini twists, and often use palomar or other knots going to the bait, so I'm notworried about something new; just concerned about this line-to-line scenario.

Splice a loop in the dacron. Either use a yucatan or else bimini the fluoro and catspaw the loops.
You are right that dacron has fallen out of favor, spectra simply performs better.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
