Couple Questions, Line/Hooks
Although preferred, Are circle hooks required when fishing from the pier?
What is a good name brand Braid Line in the 20-30# range, for use in the surf?

Circle hooks are not required from the pier, nor do I generally prefer them (except for sharks and chunk baits for bull reds) .
I like kahle hooks for most of the same applications.
Most of the premium braids seem to hold up fine in surf fishing.
I especially like Spiderwire's Invisibraid (VERy durable), but do not care for their Easy braid (NOT durable).
Hope this helps!

Same Peir#r, I don't use circle hooks for inshore.
For kings, 2x trebles, in #2 or #4.
Spanish, plain trebles in #6 or #8.
All other stuff, plain old bronze baitholder hooks ranging from #4 to 1/0 depending what I am fishing for.Carl

Circle hooks definitely not required, but if the right size, along with kahle hooks will allow you to target most inshore species. A correctly sized treble hook will be preferable when targeting mackerel.
I also prefer the spiderweb invisibraid when using braid. A good majority of the fisherman that I see on the pier do prefer monofilament. But each type has their own benefits and downsides!

I would not say its a no-no.
But people who use it need to be cognizant of the fact that unless you get the bright colored stuff, other fisherman cant see it. And its potential to cut other lines.
Also depending on what is being used, the wind knots can be horrible.
And breaking it off if you get snagged on the piling or have a shark can be downright dangerous if someone just grabs the line, can slice you wide open must easier than mono.Carl

I like small circle hooks when fishing for whiting. Not that many people use them.

Absolutely love circle hooks on any fish I may intend to release.
As far as braid goes on the pier, I like it except for the occasional wind knots. I think why some shy away from it is because of the numerous lines in close proximity and if you hook a fish that makes a run across other lines, it's like a saw and will cut through everyone else's line. Thus not making you a popular neighbor with your fellow fisherman!
good fishing....

PFFFFT!
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
