couple questions
So i was reading the regulations for red snapper and it seems i can keep them on weekends in September and October??? Last October i saw a few swimming around the pier pilings and im thinking about bring a heavy rod if i can keep a few on weekends.
Also what size, length and type of rope do you guys use on your gaffs? Will J&M have it and put it on for me?
Would you bring a cobia rod for late September/early October? I dont have a ton of room and if I'm not going to need it ill leave it.
What size line do you guys use on your bubble ring rods?
Thanks in advance. James

Red snapper? maybe in Florida??
You want 30' or rope for a gaff or net
J&M should be able to do that nicely (get them to add a float to the end of the rope ;-)
Cobia rod in October? Bull reds may eat a cobia jig ;-)
Bubble rig main line: 10# to 20#, (mono) leader 30#-40#

30ft full braided nylon would work for gulf shores.....but might be on the short side for other piers on the gulf coast......at leasr 35ft to 40.....some east of gulf shores are 30 to the deck from the water
Heck I had some rope here I should have attached.....and it would have matched the gaff colorBill..............

I use 8, 10 or 12# mainline and a 50# mono leader for the actual bubble rig.
I've tried 30# and 40# and it seems to me that you have to retie a lot and even then get a lot of cut-offs vs. 50#.Carl
