Coming to visit, need some guidence

Hello all, I am coming from Arizona to visit my sister in Louisiana soon. We will staying awhile in the Gulf Shores/Pensacola area and I wanna do some fishing. I have not done shore or pier fishing in while, looking for recommendations on bait and tackle/rigs set up. What size line and leaders and all that good stuff.

It depends on what you want to catch. If you want to catch kings off the pier your gonna need an 8 ft. med-heavy action rod with a reel that can hold 300+ yards of 15 pound mono. For your rig your gonna need some 30+ pound wire and a size 2 trebble hook. To catch LY's (scaled sardines) I would use a sabiki or ribbon rig. That is good king bait. If you want to catch some other kinds of fish in the surf off the pier I would use a 7 and 1/2 foot spinning rod with a carolina rig with 1/2 ounce weight. You don't need a big reel for the shallows. For bait on the carolina rig I would use live or FRESH dead shrimp. For leader on the carolina rig I would use 8 or 10 pound mono. I hope this helps and good luck.
