Cobia setup
Ive got the gear for cobia fishing but i just wanted to see what some other people use (rods reels etc) and what kind of live bait rigs y'all use ( fluorocarbon or mono what pound test and what kinds of hooks. Also I was wondering what kind of set up y'all throw jigs on like what pound test mono or fluorocarbon for the jigs and what kind of swivel if y'all even use one. Thanks for the replys.

These are the three rods I use for cobia fishing and the applications I tend to use them in.
Pier rod
9'3" Phenix Black Diamond Hybrid
VS200
Momoi diamond braid 30# in blue.
I use a direct tie from the braid to the jig with an offshore loop.
I throw a 4oz jig on this rod.
Pier/boat
Seeker PS85 8'6"
VS250
Momoi diamond braid 30# in blue
same configuration on jig attachment.
When using it as an eel rod I use 18" of 80lb yozuri pink flourcarbon tied attached to a owner octopus hook and a 150lb spro swivel.
Jig would be a 3oz no alibi
Boat jig rod.
Gator glass T80L Old stock
Penn 706z black spool
Momoi diamond Hybrid 30# in blue
same connection as prior rods for jigs
I use a 2.5oz octopus or no alibi style head

I like my 908 seeker for pier fishing, doesn't cast amazing but I like it all the same, I use one of my 706s with 25lb-30lb mono, I like my 708 black steal composite Seeker for bait fishing and boat fishing w 40lb powerpro on either a 706 or a 7500 penn depending on if im jigging in a boat or not (I don't really like manual for jigging in a boat, just my preference)
I figure it this way, if everyone in the world had a lie clock, whose hands moved once every time they lied. You could use any politicians lie clock as a ceiling fan.

seeker ps85 I think, and a gator glass 8 footer was my first ....not that it does me any good being here and no spring trip, as of right now.
most likely with a penn 8500ss, 8000 battle, cabo pt70....till I get very use to the manuals and getting that line back on the roller like a pro....I can work the bail very good and have confidence with it ....
I sure would hate to loose a fish cast to , messing around with the manual roller and lineBill..............

Im building a seeker ps85 right now. Once I figure out how to cut the diamonds out of the x flock ill be good to go. Almost like its just not ment to be. But it should make one hell of a cobia rod.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
